Week 23???

Hey so I didn't get an email out last week but not too much is different here. We've been getting to know the congregation really well. We have a person we are teaching who prayed about being baptized and she said that once we can go back to church she wants to be baptized because she knows that making a promise to God is something that will change her life.

We have had some downtime and it's given me some time to think about some things. The leader of our brach asked us missionaries to search the scriptures for the reason that we worship on Sundays.

The reason found in the Bible dictionary says that after Christ was resurrected his followers worshiped on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).

However in our own church some people who live in different countries worship on different days depending on the culture of the country they live in.

So the important thing is that we set apart a day for the Lord. However, now that many church services and meetings are closed how can we worship and set apart a day for the lord? It would be so easy to think that because we don't have our normal services that we can't get the same spiritual nourishment that we normally do.

I would say that during quarantine and the time that we have had without church services has been the greatest opportunity for me to make my day of worship more personal than it's ever been because now it's completely up to me weather I decide to read the scriptures and weather I try to thank God for everything he has given me by not doing things that I normally would throughout the week.

This Sunday I invite you to study the scriptures as part of your worship. If you want something specific to study I would suggest picking one of the gospels(Matthew Mark Luke John) and read about the life of Christ.
